Data extraction from 
engineering drawings

The aim of this research is to allow automatic conversion of an engineering drawing into a table form that can be used for digital trasnformation. We focus on both table/symbol detection and data extraction using DNN, image processing, PDFminer.

Display to camera communication

Display-to-camera (D2C) communication is a promising candidate for short-range M2M communication with a display–camera link. The D2C system must deliver seamless and ubiquitous communication and must enable successful acquisition of the embedded data on the receiver side.

Object detection/tracking

Deep learning based object detection has been a research hotspot in recent years. We focus on real-time object detection and tracking using YOLO, SSD, and MobileNet for various applications including autonomous driving and intelligent surveillance.

Intelligent manufacturing

Intelligent manufacturing is the utilization of real-time data analysis and artificial intelligence (AI) in the manufacturing process. For this, we study on fault detection using CNN, predictive maintenance using RNN, LSTM, robot control and scheduling using deep reinforcement learning.

Autonomous car and drone

Autonomous car and drone technologies have been advancing steadily in recent years. We use AirSim simulator for the research on self-driving cars and drones using CNN, image segmentation, and deep reinforcement learning.

Time series data analysis

An objective of time series analysis is to explore and understand data patterns in changes over time. Machine Learning techniques can find patterns in time series data and forecast the future values. We analyze time series data such as sensor data, stock price and health monitoring data.

Medical data analysis and processing

The exploitation of Super-Resolution (SR) task to effectively increase the resolution of poor-quality ultrasound images has gained extensive interests. We research on deep learning-based SR for ultrasound medical imaging. In addition, we study deep CNN-based finger vein identification which is capable of learning exquisite vein features.

IoT with open source hardware

The edge AI ecosystem has benefited greatly from the open source availability of libraries and open hardware. We implement extensive AI-assisted systems with open source hardwares including raspberry pi, jetson Tx2, jetson Xavier, etc.
